Wear It Well
Not everyone knows how to pull an outfit together so that heads turn and compliments are given in bucket loads….but for most women it’s something they want to know.
Whether its selecting a dress for a hot date or easy day to day outfit’s that are no brainers.
At Running Wild Clothing we do the thinking for you, having been a personal shopper in NYC for six years and a buyer at Running Wild Clothing, making you look your best is my privilege.
There are few key rules that will help even the most challenged shopper.
Let’s start with colour, colour is fun, but it can also be a huge fashion flop.
There are some simple rules to follow. When you are shopping, buying new items.Dont only hit the sales racks and have a wardrobe of nothing to wear.
Fashion is fun but it should work.Buy value, buy smart.
Monochromatic and by that I don’t mean black and white, although black and white worn right never goes out of style.
What I mean is choosing a colour say blue and wearing it in various shades, this always looks right. Look around next time you are shopping.Notice how the shades of blue vary.
Cobalt blue might look striking on one woman and too strong for another.
Then we have colour pallets such as jewel tones or pastels, don’t mix them, stick to a colour pallet, like a turquoise dress with a pop of emerald will work because they are in same colour family.
This applies to pastels, neutrals and primary colours too.
Next print, again go with caution, don’t go crazy mixing them, this can be effective but you need to first understand the rules before you break them.
When you need to add a colour with your printed top or skirt choose the back ground colour of the print and not one of the brighter colours in the print, this is playing it safe, but the end result will be timeless, stylish and accessories are a better way to make the bright colours in the print pop.
So the print is a pinky beige(this shade is often used in retro prints and soft feminine looks).Use the pinky beige as your main colour for shoes, your bag,add back soft pink accessories.
Which brings me to accessories, you can never have enough, they are the final touch to any outfit and they are the place it is most effective to let your personality shine.
Know if you are a gold girl or a silver girl.Sometimes you have to switch to match shoes, buttons, belts etc.
Always own a few basic pieces that work with most outfits.A gold cuff,a chunky silver boho bracelet.Your favourite pendant in a colour that will match 75% of your outfits.
I have one that is a small palm tree, its on fine gold chain but has silver and gold in it.It never clashes, understated but never wrong.
Experiment here more than in any other way and don’t go without, that belt & necklace combo are the final touch that can take any outfit from nice to wow.
A quick note on dressing for body type, it’s not as complicated as people would have you believe, accentuate your positives and minimise your negatives. Got great legs but a jelly belly? Mix a hot mini skirt, with a peasant or strategically draped style top. Don’t like your thighs, but have slim arms and nice décolletage? Wear dark on the bottom, or a fuller skirt/dress shape, with a top that shows off your arms and décolletage. It’s really that easy.
Of course if you want to not have to not have to think at all, check our page on runningwildclothing.com we have readymade outfits that will hit any mark. Sale day is every day at
